If you're going to get it, a 970/290x will suffice for 1080p maxed. A 980 at the moment is overkill but it will be a good future proofing idea. As for the CPU most i5/i7's will work absolutely fine.

Yes, this solid build is more than enough to play GTA V and Battlefield 4 with high/ultra graphical fidelity @1080/1440p.

If at all, any changes needed, I would suggest you to a better PSU than the one you've selected. Consider this quality PSU:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: XFX TS 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply (€92.95 @ Amazon Espana)
Total: €92.95
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-06-18 22:27 CEST+0200

The GTX 980 only require a quality 500W PSU that can deliver 30Amps or more on its +12V rail. The XFX is a quality 550W PSU that can deliver 45Amps on its +12V rail, which is more than enough to power your entire rig with ease. This XFX PSU is manufactured by Seasonic, one of the best in the PSU business.

Update:

Stick with GTX 980, much more future proof. Also with all other quality components that you've selected, there is no reason to upgrade at least for next two years.

Stick with XFX far better than the Cooler Master B600, with unmatched 5 year warranty. The B600 is currently under "Unlisted PSU" category, manufactured by Channel Well Technology.

Cheers!

G.skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1866 with a CAS latency of 8 are better then your kingston 1866 @ 10CAS, and cheaper

Hi!

I'll would suggest you to change the 980 for the 980 Ti, cause it has more vram and it's faster for a few more coins.

Many games use more than 4gb of vram, even at 1080, so imagine if you want to play at 1440 or more...

I have the Titan X and I use to play games with maxed settings at 2 and 4k using DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) with my 1080 display. If you want to do the same, go for the 980 Ti. You will achieve the same performance and the 6gb of vram will be enough for playing games for long.

One more tip: Directx 12 can handle 6-12 times more polygons per second than Directx 11. That said, game developers will be able to create games with more details, so, if Skyrim full moded could use 5 gb of vram... just imagine what's next.

Another advice I'd like to give you, is that you should buy a better air-cooler for the CPU, cause the 4790K can easily reach high clock rates with proper cooling. A Noctua NH-D15 or similar would be ok, and it is cheap.

And finally, I consider 8gb insufficient, cause Windows eats hard drive space to convert it into virtual ram memory and this makes you loose some gigas of your SSD.

You could disable that option if you had 16 gb, cause your system won't need more than that for a long time. With 8gb, if your system runs out of memory and you disabled what I said, you'll have a BSOD.
