DDR4 & LGA 2011-v3 vs DDR3 & LGA 1150 for gaming?

I'm looking to build a new desktop that can run my games at max settings without framerate issues or lag that will last me a while. I prefer stability, longevity, and not to tinker around too much with configs. I'm fine with upgrading parts later as the current bleeding edge techs get fine tuned, but I'd rather not have to do any major overhauls for a few years (memory, card, cpu upgrades are fine, but motherboard swaps are annoying).

Usage:
Primarily heavy raiding in World of Warcraft while simutaneously running Ventrillo, Skype, browsers, etc (nothing super resource intensive). I also play Guild Wars 2, Borderlands, Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft, etc (nothing bleeding edge graphics wise).

Other components:
Planning on a single Nvidia GTX Titan X or GTX 980. I don't think there's much point to SLI for my purposes (unless I'm missing something)? Planning on a SSD primary drive & around 16gb memory of whichever type is recommended.

Budget: Expecting $2k-$3k range or less, but flexible if somethings going to last.

Which would be better for my situation? DDR4 memory and a LGA 2011-v3 board, or should I stick with the tried and true DDR3 memory & LGA 1150 board? Specific board & CPU suggestions (prefer Intel CPUs) are appreciated too. Thanks!

Keep in mind that the difference between frame rate ddr3 vs ddr4 is literally like max 3 frames per second difference . I mean price per dollar wise ddr4 is not even close to being worth it right now unless you want to do video editing / graphics designing.

In my opinion the Samsung 850 pro Is a pretty good choice in SSD right now it has really good specs. Read is up too 550mb/s and write spead up to 520 mb/s ( on the 256gbs or more) the 128gb has a write spead up to 470 mb/s speeds. It also comes with a 10 year limited warranty.

Another thing is Intel is releasing its new processor line up ( Skylake) on the 5'th of August 2015. You could wait till then to see how things roll out. Totally not sure on the pricing on those though

Definitely not planning on doing any video editing or graphic design work, hence the hesitation... Is August 5th confirmed for the new line up? I thought they weren't coming out for a while yet? Or is it just the 6+ core versions of the new line up that won't be out for a while?

Yeah, sadly I don't think I can wait that long. I'm currently using a 3 yr old gaming laptop that's not aging well. I underestimated how big a difference the laptop form factor and the associated higher temperatures make on how well the parts run 3 yrs later... I might be able to put off building a desktop till early August, but any longer and chances are I'll have tossed the laptop out the window in frustration when it lags on a critical movement phase during a boss fight.
