Hi, i am extremly new to the world of high-end computers but i recently bought one to play Witcher 3 to its full effect, it uses a Intel core I7 4790K but using Speccy i have found that it goes up to 70 celsius 20 minutes into the game. Some posts i've read say this is far to hot, some say it's standard for the model

I downloaded SpeedFan and tried to have it control my fans but to no avail due to the ''DO NOT USE!'' Options in the configure screen.

My question is, are these dangerous levels? aswell as - i have 3 Auxillary fans within my case, apparently. but neither one off them ever runs, i can visibly see fans within the case that do not run no matter the temperature of any component, is this normal?

Solution

It throttles at 100°C; therefore you can't damage it at 75°C. I ran a couple Intel processors hot enough to get them to throttle and they still work fine. Another member had his cooler not mounted properly and his CPU was throttling all the time and it didn't crash.

Edit: Getting a better cooler is excellent advice, but you can also keep on enjoying your system with the stock cooler.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will look into getting an aftermarket then, but as long as it hovering around 70-75 is not damaging for the CPU itself i am relieved.
