Hi, I cloned my system into a new ssd, which I'm using, and the old drive a sshd from WD, still has my system on it. I'm trying to erase all the data from the sshd, so my gf can use as a external drive. But the windows won't let me format the drive, it restarts when I start formatting it. Tried both on my pc and on hers, same thing. I guess windows see the external drive as a boot? I don't know. How do I erase the data (my system) from that drive (sshd)?

*The hybrid drive I'm trying to erase it's on a hard drive enclosure, and connected to our laptops through USB cable.

Solution

OK
Verify your boot order - SSD only
Boot up
Disk Manager should allow you to delete all partitions on that drive, and then Format.

Yes, it boots totally fine just from the SSD,
The SSHD is the original one, I cloned its files into the new SSD that I'm using.
My gf asked me for the SSHD to use as external, I'm now trying to format it as an external on both mine and hers laptop, but I can't without having either hers or mine system restarted.

That makes a lot of sense.
Thanks a lot. That's definitely it.
