When connecting the switch to the mobo, does the positive side (red wire/side with triangle) go onto the positive pin.

pretty sure switches don't matter it's just LEDs you need to wire up correctly to work.

Nothing will get damaged if you do it the wrong way (built many PC's - 0 concerns given about front IO polarity)

Whatever color cable the Power, Reset, and HDD Activity connectors have in common is the negative cable.

For example:

Power: Red/Black
Reset: Blue/Black
HDD Activity: Green Black

The red, blue, and green wires are all positive. All the black wires are negative.
