I am building a new pc and I have gigabyte ga 78 lmt usb3 mobo and amd fx4300 processor. My motherboard has 2*4 pin 12v power connector, but my psu has only one 4 pin power connector. I have tried to boot up system by connecting it but it did not start. Is it mandatory to connect both 4 pins ?? Please help.

Solution
No, one 4-pin should be enough unless you've got a really high-power CPU or you're overclocking it hard. Double-check your connections. I once plugged the 4-pin part of a 4+2 PCIe into the ATX12V 4-pin and it didn't start... (The PSU protected itself by shutting down on detecting the short so I didn't do any damage.)

Anyways, i have bought a new corsair psu today as the old one from my old rig did not feel reliable. Now i am having issues with the front panel connector. They do not work. I connected the switches, it booted up perfectly only once when i wrongly connected the reset switch to power connector. System booted when i pressed the reset switch instead of the power switch. Now when i connected them correctly, the system does not start. I have tried all possible combinations, but it did not work. Shorting the power pins with screwdriver also does not work. Any suggestions?

Is the motherboard in the case or out? I'd start with it out of the case with just mobo/CPU/fan/RAM/PSU and try the screwdriver on the power pins like that. Are you sure you touched the right pins? I remember at least one motherboard with the Power LED pins labeled "PWR" and the Power Button pins "PWR BT" so it can be confusing.

I have managed to start it successfully. i disconnected all the connectors, and connected them one at a time and tested. It started with no hassle once the right connection was made. Thanks a lot for your help buddy.
