Turtle Beach Mic not Working

My turtle beach headset mic doesn't work on my laptop. It has a combined jack (headset + mic). I have a splitter that is specific for headset and mic, it came with a different headset I have. When I look at my soundcard settings, theres only the internal mic. Plz help

nevermind i solved it, i had it set to automatically detect it as a Headphone, not a headset. Once I changed it, it automatically changes the default mic from internal to headset

How did you do that? I'm having the exact same problem, I bought the X12s and had to buy a splitter for my laptop because it only had one input for both headphones and a microphone. I really need this microphone to work because my laptop's default microphone has something wrong with it and creates very loud white noise. Can you just give some more detailed instructions on how you made it auto-detect headphones rather than a headset?
