Ok so im looking at getting some liquid cooling for my i7 and was wondering if something like an h80i would do the job or if an h100i is necessary to sustain something like a 4.7Ghz overclock ?

Many thanks

H80i should be able to get 4.7ghz with reasonable temps. And no the H80i is slightly worse then even the old H100. You have more surface area with the H100. If you have the room, I'd recommend the H100i, though the performance difference isn't all that much between the 2 as I seen at most the H100i was 10C better at most with stock fans.

They are roughly the same cooling capacity. H100i gives you the opportunity for push/pull with 4 fans which can be quieter.

H80i kept my i7-4770k @ 1.2984 volts @ 4.3 Ghz (~150W) below 70C under a full load with a pair of Corsair SP 120mm Performance fans. Wasn't very loud.
