I have been having two problems with my computer that was built for me by a friend.

It has a Zotac 980 Amp Edition
An i5 4690k
A Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo
A Caviar Blue 7200 RPM HDD
16 GBs of DDR3 RAM from Ripjaws
A M12II 620 W PSU
A Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case

1. Some games unexpectedly say they stop working, even with the latest GPU drivers and whilst running at 60 FPS (Note: I only have GPU drivers).

2. My computer recently blacked out and turned on but displayed nothing on the monitor, it then turned off one second later and repeated the cycle until I turned the PSU off. The PSU was running at 108% on MSI Afterburner.

so you can't even power on your PC at the moment? if that's the case your best bet is to buy a new power supply. if you can power it up then you should start with checking voltages on 3,3 5 and 12v rail with something like hwinfo64.
It can also be a different type of issue, like pci-e connection or corrupted driver which could be corrected, but if actually the PC doesn't turn on even with IGPU then its most likely the PSU.

My other desktop has a 280 W PSU, if I ditched the GPU, maybe.
Can a PSU go dead in two days?

it can die in 1 minute if it was faulty. there is always a chance for manufacturing fault. they usually use probability distribution ( math) to calculate the possible number of faulty psus and also do testing, but some product always slip away to the consumers. so yes it can break within 2 days.
you can try disconnecting your GPU and boot your PC from the IGPU, if it still won't boot up then your power supply is probably dead.

Careful with that 280 w, don't plug in with GPU.
Check all of your drivers as well.
There may be some compatibility issues going on.
