Hey guys, I was just looking to upgrade my GPU. I plan on doing a ton of my own research and I know it is ultimately up to me, but I would like to get some opinions. What card would you recommend for around $400? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

I was just looking at these new cards last night! This one comes out next Thursday, right? I've heard some skepticism that these are basically the same as the 200 series (besides the Fury and FuryX cards that are also coming)...is this true? If so would it be a cheaper alternative to get the 290x?
The only cards at that price are the GTX 970 and the R9 290X (actually cheaper).
If you want 1080p gaming, the go for the GTX 970, if you want 4K gaming, take the R9 290X.
Probably just going to be gaming in 1080p for the near future, are there any benefits if I go with the Nvidia? I've always used AMD so I'm not too educated on the Nvidia cards
The 390X is slightly better than the GTX 980, but make sure you have the PSU to satisfy its thirst for power! I really can't wait for the Fury X, it seems AMD have really pulled one out of the bag with that one.
These cards are out now, and they are actually a step up from the 290X

Thank you, I never managed to find this. I'm strongly considering the 390x. I won't be picking a card for another month or so, so I guess I have plenty of time to research some more!

I have a 650w, that should be enough right? Thanks again!

Sounds good. Even though it's basically a rebrand, it's a very good one! It is a lot better than the current 290X.
