I am thinking of buying a high wattage power supply to replace my 550 watt one. So how reliable is the calculator. Does it factor in overclocks, heavy loads, and non-stock cooling? Also, If I have an 80+ Gold 550 watt power supply, can I pull 590 watts under a heavy load and not kill the power supply?

If it's a high quality PSU you can pull more than it's rating before it shuts down. If the PSU provides 590W to your system, then it has to pull more than 590W from the outlet because it can't be 100% efficient.

I have a Seasonic G-Series 80+ Gold 550 watt Power Supply,
An AMD a10-7850k cpu
a Gigabyte F2A88X-UP4 motherboard
A Sapphire R9 270 Vapor-X gpu
16 GB of 1600 MHz ram
1 ssd
and 3 random hard drives.

The reason I was asking is because I want to upgrade my GPU to a 280x, or a 270 crossfire. According to the calculator (Which yes I know now is not reliable), I can easily run the crossfire but not the 280x. Is any of this true?
