Trouble installing my OS

I keep trying to install my OS onto my SSD or HDD, but it's keeps restarting and telling me there was an error. I'm using a Samsung 850 EVO and 3 TB Seagate Barracuda. The OS is Windows 8.1.

Format the drive (quick format) before trying to reinstall again. you will need to mount the drive as a secondary drive in a working system to do this.

So take it to a friend's house and format it there?
