I like both the cases and they are quite similar but which one is better construction quality and feature wise? Which one's smaller? Thanks in advance...

The Phantom 240 isn't a very good case. NZXT have tried to squish all of the old Phantom goodness into a cheap price point and therefore a lot of quality has been lost along the way.

The S340 is a fantastic case, with a PSU cover, hidden drive cages, plenty of airflow and a huge case window. I can strongly recommend it.

Do you really need an Optical drive? You can do everything with a USB stick nowadays, from installing Windows all the way to storing photos. It's also a lot cheaper to do everything via USB.
