Hey everybody :D
I have decided to go with gtx 980ti and due to its high price I want to make sure no other components of my system will bottleneck it.
The 144hz 1440p IPS monitor I am talking about is the Acer Predator XB270Hu: I like this because of the beautiful color contrast (woooh finally a 144hz IPS) and the fact it supports g sync and all that good stuff, but the drawback is a higher input lag. (3ms)
The 144hz 1440p TN monitor is the ROG Swift: I like this one because of the low input time (1ms), but the drawback to this monitor is the colors are somewhat dull when compared to an IPS panel.
Not sure which 144hz 1080 p monitor yet.

So my question is, for the gtx 980ti, which monitor is best fit because I am aware of each of their drawbacks. I am concerned about the huge price and low reliability of the 1440p monitors but I feel its the only way to make a 980ti worth it as a 1080p may not max out the gpu. So my other option was, get a 144hz 1080p monitor and wait it out until a good, more reliable and affordable 144hz 1440p monitor comes out? or do I go for new but overpriced and unreliable 144hz 1440p monitor?

Also, I game very heavily in graphic intense single player games such as witcher 3, skyrim, far cry 4.
Thank you guys in advance :D :D

Colour contrast is likely something only a professional would notice a difference between, or with a good side-by-side comparison. If you're just doing gaming, I believe that any decent 1440p monitor would blow you back regardless if one has slightly better colour reproduction.

Between 1ms and 3ms, I really REALLY doubt you will ever be able to detect a difference, it is more of a gimmick than anything else. The difference of 2ms is something I doubt the human body can even detect.

So with all that being said, the 980Ti will not be 100% utilized in 1080p @ 144hz, but it will be with 1440p @ 144hz. I would simply purchase a decent G-Sync 1440p monitor @ 144hz.

(P.S. Skyrim Physics go....CRAZY if you run above 60FPS, so regardless for...

Thank you for the reply :D

Reviewers usually say TN panels produce "dull" colors and so I have been swayed towards IPS because I want really saturated colours. Hopefully there wont be a huge price drop this christmas for 144hz 1440p monitors and feel like an idiot (im building my setup up in 2 weeks). So do you think the Acer Predator is the way to go? something is telling me to hold up and wait for a price drop (one we saw with 4k tv's recently) but sadly I dont know enough about the monitor market.

I would go with the Predator. The ROG and the Predator are around the same price range and as azathoth said you won't notice the response time difference. You will though notice the difference between TN and IPS especially if you game a lot. If you really want to make the 980ti worth it I would go with the Predator. Also most people that used the Predator don't experience to many issues (says the reviews on Amazon). Even with the reliability issues I think the Predator is the way to go.
