In older games supporting direct x11 used only a single core for draw calls. So the main strategy followed by intel was like providing more powerful single cores.

Pentium had weaker cores than i3, i3 had technology called hyper threading, whereas i5 had turbo boost but not hyper threading, i7 had both the technologies which made their single core more powerful than the others. (There are some exceptions).

Now the game has changed. Direct X12 can now effectively use more cores and the differences are huge.

In the present scenario which processor is better i3 or a quad core Pentium.

Hey captainmumoy, you mentioned that i3 is a quad core processor but i3 is actually a dual core processor with hyperthreading which works like quad core.(For example: some editors at the time of rendering video shows like this "rendering using 4 processors").

The main highlight of dx12 is that it can effectively use multiple cores. Hence Gamer can invest more on Powerful GPU's.

I need to know which processor is better pentium with 4 cores or i3 with 2 cores in Dx12 gaming.

Is there any readily available benchmarks? Thanks for your effort

but just like in DX11, a quad core will be more beneficial then a dual core, not just for gaming but an all round computing experience alot of games are already starting to get made using more then 2 cores, so its a matter of time that when dx12 becomes the main that games will be going 4+ cores

The only quad core Pentiums are the older ones. The i3 is going to outperform an older Core 2 Quad all day in every way. If you are trying to compare the i3 Dual Core with hyperthreading to the i5 quad core of the same generation then the i5 wins, even when DX12 lands.
