Hi, I have a Windows 8.1 64 bit Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1P1.

When I start my laptop and log in the trackpad works fine. Then, when I log in, the tackpad mouse will scroll but not move.

I have discovered that every time I start up the laptop I have to end task on Synaptics Pointing Device, by connecting an actual mouse and going onto task manager.

This is a pain. I can't use this if I'm out because I'll have to bring a proper mouse with me.

So should I uninstall Synaptics pointing device? idk what to do.

Please help, thanks,

I have the same problem, I´m almost 3 weeks trying to find an answer. I did it all: uninstall the driver, download the driver from the Toshiba website (my laptop is a Toshiba too), install it again. Nothing. So, my touchpad only works if: 1) I keep uninstall the Synaptics driver (and use my tochpad with the Microsoft driver) or 2) I end the process "SynTPEnh.exe" with the Task Manager (when I have that driver install). Sure, I can´t use the touchpad as scrollbar or change the zoom with it (those are Synaptics features), but at least the cursor moves (it can do all the basics).

I looked around on my laptop and I saw a few weird things:
1. I noticed a text document in my C: with this name: "IFRToolLog.txt". (Intel Firmware Recovery Tool).
2. At "Restore system" I found several restoration points with Description: "Intel(R) Technology Access" and Type: "System" (16 so far, since the very same date I start having problems with my touchpad until now).
3. At the Intel (R) Update Manager I see only three (3) events:
Actualizaciones [Updates] - Estado [Status] - Fecha [Date]
Intel(R) Technology Access, versión 1.4.4.1000 - Actual - 16/08/2015 16:11
Intel(R) Technology Access, versión 1.4.4.1000 - Ha habido un error (DigestError) - 31/07/2015 16:42
Intel(R) Technology Access, versión 1.3.6.1042 - Se ha realizado correctamente - 25/03/2015 20:54

The dates kind of match up, so, I think all these things are connected.

Is this happening to you too?

Anyone there can help?
