Intel HD Graphics 4600 vs HD-3650

I'm going to be building my daughter a new PC shortly. She's chosen an i5-4460 for the CPU, and wants to move her old HD-3650 discrete card to the new PC. She does not game, but she does do some video encoding/decoding... transferring video from her camcorder to storage media.

I'm thinking that the Intel Quicksync video of the Haswell integrated iGPU would be more beneficial than the aging HD-3650 for video work. And that it would just be better overall as a graphics solution anyway. (It would probably even game as well) Am I wrong-headed?

if the HD 3650 is pci express then itll be better than the intel.

Try out the HD 4600 if its not enough you can get something to improve later - Ezo Legendz

Lol... yeah, I'm going to have trouble squeezing those four big cards in the one lone PCIe x16 slot she has.

I'll probably let her to try the iGPU first. I was just wondering what the consensus of the forum was.

Looking at old benchmarks the 3650 can't even play crysis but even the hd 4000 can. The 4600 would be better.

Since she's not a gamer, I was trying to find some comparison for other tasks.

Likewise anything I find is pointing to the 4600 being better in every way.

Well they were different sources but just looking up benchmarks for a few places with the 3650 and compare what you can find with the 4600. I know the differences in setups will affect it but it was too much of a difference to not account it to an actual performance difference.
