Overvolting GPU? How dangerous?

How dangerous is overvolting GPU on air?
I got 780 TI in SLI and I managed to get 1228 core clock on both with just raising power limit to 106% (maxed).

I would like to get 1260~
How much should I overvolt to achieve it and how dangerous is it?

If it's just an over volt without a bios flash, there's essentially zero risk assuming you're on an after market cooler for sufficient cooling. I'm on a bios flashed and heavily over volted 660ti which I was able to get 1260 (+175) core clock and 7000 (+500) memory clock using a DirectCUII Asus cooler. Temps reach the low 70's with around 60% fan speed which is fine because of the intensity and nature of my said overclock.
