Hello everyone,

I'm upgrading my old pc since it can't run anything anymore

I mainly play CSGO at 1024 res all low on average 40~80 fps with my current build ( I have a 120hz monitor )

CPU: Atlhon x2 250 3,0Ghz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5450 1gb 64bits
MEMORY: 4gb ram
PSU: Cooler Master Elite Power 400W

I'm upgrading cpu, mobo, gpu to be able to run at 1680x1050 with no less than 120 fps.

I do however plan to upgrade in the future, probably at a "black friday" to an i5 or i7.

CPU: Pentium G3258 I do plan to OC it. I've only bought this so far
GPU: R9 270x 2GB DUAL X OC GDDR5 BOOST
MB: MSI H81M-E33
MEMORY: 4gb Should I also get +4gb for this upgrade?
PSU: Cooler Master Elite Power 400W Can this PSU keep it up with this build?

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you guys!

Solution
It will depend on your load. It shouldn't fry anything but that PSU may not be able to power that card once the card starts to draw more power/current. Just sending email, browsing and such, you should be fine. But when you start playing Global Offensive and the card clocks up, your PC could simply shut down. Better safe than sorry. Think of it as insurance. you buy it hoping you'll never need it but are damn glad you have it in case you ever do.

You could get the card now and run it with it and simply upgrade the PSU later if it turns out you need to.

if CSGO is your only game that you will be playing then your new build will be fine if you plan to do more then a GPU upgrade is a must I would recommend for low budget a R9 280x or more for keeping the longevity of your build.

Thanks for replying, I'm from brazil and everything here is overpriced, especially hardware.

I'm only purchasing this r9 270x because it's on sale, it's about $300 usd here, plus I'm on a budget.

My main question here is whether my psu can handle this gpu, you have an awesome avatar btw

To answer your question no, the 270x at 100% uses about 370W and 110W at idle, And you plan to OC your CPU so a 600W PSU is not to mutch more than a 400W I dont know what it is in Brazil but 600W would meet all your needs with room to expand en OC.

I just found this website to calculate my psu usage, it seems that my psu can handle it, unless I did something wrong in this test lol.

That site has the limitation that is doesn't show amperage requirements unless you pay. Amps are the bigger issue here.

Assuming I found the right PSU, it looks like a dual rail setup with 16A on each. Assuming a 270X needs 28A, you should probably spend $50 and upgrade to a solid single rail eVGA with 40A.

This should serve your needs nicely.

That said, this is the about the same price and gives you plenty of room for later upgrades.

You said my cpu has 16A on each and a 270 needs 28, isn't 32 enough? I don't get it.

I'm really on a budget those parts were quite pricey for me, but this 270 is on a fair price, unfortunately I don't have enough to upgrade my PSU.

If I were to get this r9 270x and use it on my CM elite power 400w, what could happen? bsod, fry my whole system etc?

I really wanted it though, I'm looking forward to your reply on this one, thanks again : )

this is my psu in case you were in doubt: http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Elite-Power-RS400-PSARI3-US/dp/B002G1YPHA
