Hello.

I've recently bought a new GTX 960 gaming 2g but I can't seem to get it to work. I plugged it into the same slot as my 3-year old GTX 550 ti which works fine. My MB is msi z77a-g45, but its version dates back to 2012. I heard about some BIOS updates bricking the motherboard so I've tried to avoid that.

Basically, when the card is plugged in, it boots the PC normally, but I get no screen at all, tried different cables (vga and hdmi) and two different monitors. The leds and fans work fine on the GPU but I get absolutely no visual at all.

Also, when the card is plugged in but not connected to a monitor, it still won't show a screen even if I plug my monitor in my MB's VGA port. So I'm sure PCI is prioritized over MB in the BIOS.

Is my card faulty, or do I really have to upgrade my BIOS? Or is there another solution?

Make sure plug in the 8-pin pcie power cable into the gtx960, also try the gtx960 in other pcie slot, or in other pc like your friend pc.
If the GPU works in other pc, or in other pcie slot on the z77a-g45, but you still have problem, the gtx960 works in the 1st pcie slot, then you have to update the BIOS.
