Should I get a gtx 970 or a r9 390? Very confused

My 7970 GHZ has died last night now I need a new card and I'm so very confused I don't keep up with GPU's

here's the pricing

Gtx 970 msi $469

Amd r9 390 gigabyte $499 I play on 1920x1080 my CPU is a amd 8320 at 4.4ghz

Right now there's only two games capable of slowing down the GTX970 due to its 3.5GB ram limitation with that slower 500MB pool, Shadow of Mordor and Battlefield 4 at 4K res. Perhaps in a year or two games will start showing the 970's true colors but for now it's safe. I had a 970 but it was in a system I sold, and I was fairly satisfied with it.
