Hello everyone,
I am currently getting an Asus R9 290x Directcu II Matrix Platinum and i did some searching about it. I have read some cases in which when they played games at ultra settings, the card hit 95 degrees celsius, although they had set the fans at 100% speed. So they were forced to install watercooling because the fans didn't do anything. Does any of you have that problem? Is it a common problem? Will i have the same problem?

My pc's components are: Asus Sabertooth z77// intel 3770k // corsair 8gb RAM // corsair CS750M

Oh no then I think you'll be fine. It's not the best of models but it should get the job done without overheating. Any temp. below 96-98 degrees is fine for that GPU.

It is known that the R9 290X Matrix Platinum, which is the most expensive R9 290X I'm sure, doesn't actually offer the best of performance or cooling. I wouldn't settle with Asus for the R9 290X but more a GPU from Sapphire Tri-OC or Gigabyte Windforce.

In short, the Matrix Platinum is seriously overpriced yet performance wise not the best.

It's one of the best looking graphics cards I'll admit that but even my former XFX R9 290 Core Edition wasn't much worse under load compared to the Asus Matrix Platinum.
