Hello,
I plan to upgrade my desktop PC. The one I have now is E4500, Ati 3870, Gigabyte 965p S3, 2GB DDR2 and Hipro 400w. I am planning on an upgrade:
- Q6600
- Ati 5870
- 2x2 GB = 4 ddr 2 800mhz

I am worried about the Hipro 400W. I am using a 22 inch monitor and a 5.1 Logitech speakers. Is it enough?
If not, what video card should I purchase to upgrade the one I have for maximum results? I saw a thread here about a similar issue but the user had 700W.http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/270858-33-system-worthy-5870-5850

Solution
1) What is your budget? and what game do you play?
2) Because the Hipro 400W will not have enough juice for the new powerful GPU, you need upgrade the PSU+GPU. And may need the aftermarket cpu cooler too, because you are planing to buy the q6600.

Also I check out the MB, which has the P965 Express Chipset that comes with the pcie1.1X16 slot, and hd5870 has the pcie2.1X16, so the hd5870 maybe have problem with the old pcie1.1x16 slot, because the HD3870 has the pcie2.0x16 so that it does not have problem. Here is some info http://www.overclock.net/a/the-final-answer-to-the-controversial-pcie-x16-version-compatibility According to the article, you may update the BIOS, but keep in mind the GPU ( pice 2.1X16 or the newer version...
