Greetings Tom's,

Trying to update my friend's Gateway T-Series laptop (T-14). He has a AMD Turion 64 processor, and I've never worked with an AMD, as I'm more familiar with Intel (no offense).

Any AMD experts out there that can comment on a Turion, and if it can be upgraded further than this?

As an example - Intel Core 2 Duo's - say one has a T7200, you can upgrade it to a T7600.

Didn't know if it's possible with AMD and this motherboard combo.

Thanks!

You need to start with the exact model number, and go to the Gateway site. From there, they will tell you which cpu's are supported by the MB.

In general, the Turions are quite dated at this point, and it will not pay to upgrade a cpu of this vintage unless you can find a very cheap one for sale.

From what I gather from the laptop it says it's a "T-Series" and on the bottom case it says Model W350A. Gateway's site is a bit cryptic at best, so I was able to determine the "top line" is a T-1413 that has the 2.2 GHz Turion.

So I didn't know if there was a "Turion" that was, say, 3 GHz or so. Again, I'm not familiar with AMD products.
