I have a USB 3.0 WD 3TB Desktop external drive that disconnects every time I wake up the computer or simply just restart the computer.

There were periods of time that it didn't do this. Yet recently, it has decided to start being a pain.

Any ideas?

Hey there, Humberto Cruz-Long!

I'm sorry to hear about your connectivity issues with the WD External drive. :(
I'd recommend you to try plugging the external HDD to a different USB port and/or using a different USB cable and see how it will react when you restart the computer again. Another thing you should try is uninstalling the device from Device Manager and re-installing it again, as it might fix the problem.
I'd also check for firmware updates for your WD external model here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=BCY1N7
Have you also attempted connecting the drive to a different computer?

Keep me posted! Hope this helps though! :)
