Hi. I'm hoping for some advice on a R9 290 I have found for sale at £179, delivered.

Problem is, it's a reference card from power color with the single fan, which I've read they have issues with overheating and noise. Are these issues enough to avoid a purchase at this price? I am on a really tight budget, but cannot suffer my Geforce 210 any longer. I'm desperate...lol. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Mark.

The reference AMD cards, and a select few of the non reference AMD's get up to 94-96c while gaming, avoid them and check reviews before you buy.

You have an Nvidia 210? Do you know what power supply you currently have? Because an AMD 290 is going to want lots more power from your power supply then your Geforce 210 did. Make sure your power supply can handle an AMD 290 first before buying one.

Nvidia 210? Yeah, crazy eh. lol. PSU isn't big enough, but i've now purchased a MSI GTX 970, which I'm going to run from an additional 550w PSU dedicated to the 970 alone using a jumper on the 24pin connector for power on. So the power to the graphics card will be independent of the motherboard, drives etc.
