Hi everyone,

I have a R9 280X Tri-x OC 3Go by Sapphire as GPU. I've been experiencing artifacts with it, so I dowclocked it with MSI Afterburner to 1000 for core (1100 previously) and 1450 for memory (1600 previously). It worked for weeks, but since this morning I've been experiencing lags in game, with my memory clock stuck at max speed and my GPU temperature not being read by any software (SpeedFan, HW Monitor, Msi Afterburner) Here is a picture of the phenomenon http://imgur.com/AHEt2nz

Long story short, I restarted the computer, cleaned the drivers with DDU, installed 15.3 drivers. It worked for a few hours but then again I'm having this problem

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your help

Well the first thing i would try is reseating the graphics card (probably wont work but its best to rule it out) take the gpu out hit the pcie slot and the gpu with some compressed air if you have it, put it back in and try it. I think its possible dust could have got in there which can cause all sorts of weird things like your temp sensor not to work.

If that doesn't work its probably a software issue. Ill look it up and see if i can find anything

As a matter of fact, I had already cleaned it the first time it went crazy like this. I can always remove it and put it back again, but it's a bit hard since my computer case is small and this graphic card is HUGE.... the reason why tomorrow a friend and I will move all the hardware in a bigger computer case.

UPDATE: Cleaned the GPU, removed it and put it back, checked the power supply cables, and restarted the computer. For now, CCC and Afterburner are showing temps and correct clock speeds, like after every restart so far, but over the course of the next hours, it could totally change again.

Update 2: Cross the 'next hours'. Just happened as I double checked, GPU temps are 0° with both CCC and Afterburner. It's driving me crazy. And it's curious but when shutting down the computer, it freezes at the last step of closing windows, with the light blue screen and "Shut down in progress"

Was checking this problem and a guy with a computer unable to shutdown properly suggested to update the BIOS... could it do the trick?
