Hi,
I think I have finished choosing all my components, please comment if you have any last tips/advice. Also I will be ordering soon, but I'm unsure if I should wait for the EVGA 970 (or other components) to fall in price.
My build is:

Thanks

K. If you have a limited budget, try this. I have changed the mobo to your suggested one. See if this works out.

I did a little modification with your list.

Check if you can go with an AMD CPU and this is a good CPU and can be overclocked to a high extent.

Thanks,
Im not sure, alot of people have really suggested intel over amd, is there any real benefit?
Also what are the benefits of the power supply and case change?

AMD And Intel are comparable brands with lines of processors which have there own specialty of performance. While AMD processors are generally having more physical cores and physical threads, are good in multi tasking and also the upcoming release of DX12 is going to improve multicore usage in games. So AMD will have a better advantage there in the future. Intel processors have (at least i3, i5 and earlier i7) 4 Physical Cores and 4 physical threads. But Intel uses a technique called Hyper threading to create 4 virtual threads which could act as if there are 4 more cores in the CPU. This helps in multitasking. But DX12 will only enhance physical core usage.

AMD uses a little more power than intel. Well, let me say this, when it comes to Intel Vs AMD, there is a little bit of RED & BLUE war going on in many forums with people fighting it over which is better. But really, each of these have there own characteristics which should not be compared to each other.

Most importantly, AMD has the cost/Performance ratio. I am not saying Intel does'nt. But most of its processors are priced higher.

If gaming is the primary usage, Intel would do just as good. But when it comes to games as of now, GPU is the boss.

Even if you buy a high end Intel processor and pair it with a mid range graphic card, it will not be as good as a Mid end CPU with a high end GPU together.

The power supply choice was more of an experience thing. I have more experience with Antec PSUs. They have all Japanese good quality capacitors and are known for there longevity and sturdiness along with high efficiency.

The case I chose based on aesthetics along with space, future upgradability for internal components as well as plenty of air flow.

Well lets hope this thread does not become an Intel VS AMD battle field.

Just to make sure that does not happen, I will also give an intel parts list for you. Just trying out one now.

Check this out and see if this would be okay if the AMD option is not what you want.

thanks, it's a bit too much though, my budget was around £770,
since then i have changed the mobo to
ASUS B85M-E - INTEL LGA1150 B85 (due the other mobo having fitting issues) and am looking for a different matx case for sub £40
Also swapped the psu for fully modular XFX P1-550B-BEFX 550w XTR Gold

It is all pretty much just brand preference and loyalty when you think about the Intel vs. AMD debate.

Yeah. Your right. I don't know why people have to put that kind of stuff here. People come to blogs and communes like ours to get a decent solution for there needs and most of the time when it comes to a CPU selection, the red & blue teams show up wavering there big guns and shouting at each other.

I mean, why do we have to go through all of that. There is no gain for any consumer if only one company has the market monopoly. All that brings is higher prices and imposing of what ever the company has onto the consumer who literally has no other option.

Competition is good. But fanboy-ism does'nt help.

Lets hope no blue-red battle takes place in any of our other threads. This has been a pretty decent thread in that respect.
