So I bought a new PNY 128GB 3.0 USB Drive for my dad as a father's day present, and I was going to give it a witty label, but when I popped it in my computer, the icon in My Computer was grayed out, and when I try to open or format it, it tells me there is no disk in drive H. (the USB Drive's assigned letter, I changed it from F to H to see if that would work, but there was no change)

So is there a way to resole this drive's problems without having to replace it? I'm fairly confident I could return it without much hassle, but if there is a simple solution I would rather not have to wait for a new one to ship to me.

Thanks in advance,
Vaughn B.

open windows disk management see if they forgot to format the drive. you can also see if you can delete and make a new partion on the drive to see if it live. also run hdtune see if there are any drive errors on it. if it wont format/partion then the drive doa. if it was baught local they should be able to return it and give you a new unit.

Note entirely sure what I'm looking for here, but this is the disk management window: http://i.imgur.com/whXyrOt.png

And yes, I have tried 3 available USB 3.0 Ports.

I also found that on another computer running windows 7 (Mine is running 8.1) the device wouldn't show up at all under My Computer. The USB Drive does show up in device manager on both systems, though.

EDIT: I did finally just send it back. Thanks for your help, guys.
