AMD A8 6600k Vs AMD A10 7870k

Hello,

Could someone enlighten me if an upgrade from the 6600k to a 7870k will make much of a difference gaming wise?

I have x2 4GB 1866mHz Ram modules

Going to assume both are not overclocked. If you are going to overclock, the newer A10 7870k will have more potential and can also benefit from DDR3-2133 modules (or higher).

The A8 6600k sports a slightly higher base clock speed and higher turbo speed. 500MHz and 400MHz respectively.
The A10 is a newer revision of the APU and supports more memory bandwidth (can support faster modules). This is negligible since you are going to use DDR3-1866 modules.
The GPU edge goes to the A10 being based on the R7 chipset rather than the prior HD 8570D. Again this is negligible.

Bottom line is that these are very similar processors so let pricing decide for you.
