I was playing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for less than an hour a few days ago, and my PC suddenly crashed and restarted. No blue screen or anything. I've been playing games on this PC for years and this hasn't happened before. I have a single Radeon 6870, with fans working usually at 60-70%. The main case has three fans: one on top, one on the back and one on the side. All three of them are working. The processor fan is working too.

I read somewhere that the processor should be at around 35-40°C when the system was idle. In my case, it stays at around 55-57°C. Room temperature is around 25°C.

I ran Furmark to check the GPU, and it stayed at 75-80°C for the duration of the test. When furmark is running, one of the cpu cores is being used at 100% and another one at 25%. In this state, CPU temperature remains at 55-57°C. I fiddled around with MS Excel during the test, with no change in temperature.

I ran Prime95 to stress the processor, and after a couple of minutes the CPU, all four cores at 100%, got to 70°C. At this point I stopped the test, afraid that I might fry the CPU.

I haven't run the game again, fearing that I might damage my PC, so I'm not sure it really was a heating issue. Whta do you guys think? Are these temperatures normal?
