Hi, I'm planning on getting a new GPU since I got myself a 1440p display (Asus PB278Q) recently.
After considering the availability and prices in my country I have two options,

1. Zotac GTX 970 Amp Extreme Core Edition
2. R9 390 (Sapphire / MSI )

Power consumption doesn't really matter much to me.And the price difference is minor (R9 390 is cheaper than 970 in my country). Which of the above will be best suited for 1440p gaming? I don't plan on upgrading for at least an year.

Thanks in advance.

Go with the R9 390. It'll be better for future games since they will probably require more than 4GB of VRAM. Also, the R9 390 has been outperforming the GTX 970 in terms of 1440p gaming.

I didn't think Zotac was a bad brand. It is slightly cheaper than other brands but Zotac gives 5 year warranty when other brands offer only 3 year warranty.

It's to my understanding that games will start using more and more VRAM. 970 has only 3.5GB VRAM (the fast part anyways) when the R9 390 has 8GB. I know that 8GB is way more than necessary. But I was thinking R9 390 will be better for future because of that.
