I have a Compaq CQ3430AN that is solely used for Uni and a separate gaming PC that cannot be upgraded. So i was looking at gutting the Compaq and replacing/rebuilding it to my gaming specifications. I know that I cannot just replace certain components but looking at the cost effectiveness of buying new..... yeah so not worth it! :??: Will it be worth it? What would I need to replace? main gaming is RPG (DA Inquisition, Witcher iii)

Yeah, unfortunately there's not much in that Compaq that would be useful to you, so it would pretty much require a full build since your other unit is an all in one. Sorry for the bad news. Your all in one is likely a lot more powerful than the hardware in that Compaq so I'd say it's probably better to stick with that for now, and start saving for a new build. You could get into something worth having for around 500-600 bucks, that would likely have much better performance than an all in one or console.
Looks like that case only has a single case fan location. I seriously doubt this to be a good idea, plus, it's very, very likely, depending on your hardware, that there's much chance of any half decent graphics card fitting in that case that has no removable drive bays.

If you have a fairly modern processor, any kind of decent aftermarket CPU cooler or a graphics card that generates much heat at all, you're going to have serious issues with thermal boundaries inside that case.

Just buy a new case. You can get a MUCH better case for around 40-50 bucks.

Thank you, appreciate it. I thought as much. This would be my first build and I just wanted some clarification. It is just a shame that I cannot upgrade my current gaming computer (stupid all-in-one desk top?) All I want to do is play DA Inquisition and The Witcher 3, the lag is driving me insane......

Cheers
