In my new system, I have a Core i3-4170 cooled by the stock Intel cooler and a 120mm fan. Under a full load, it reaches about 45°C. Is this a safe temperature to be operating at? Thanks.

Very safe. Most of us would kill to have a CPU running that cool.

I don't worry about my CPU temp until I am past 70c, and even then, Intel CPU's do ok then. Its at 80c I really begin to worry. Even so, mine managed to get to 90c when the CPU fan died and I didn't know about it. And its still functioning just fine with the new cooler on it.

AMD CPU's seem to be much more sensitive to temps over 62c though.
