Hi there,

Just willing to get a quick suggestion on which one is better in everyday use and a bit of gaming on medium settings (900p) with a decent graphic card (gtx 750), keeping in mind I don't wish to overclock any one of them in future..

The Athlon as it is a newer platform and architecture, not that it will be superior to the C2Q. The clock speed of the C2Q is quite low for gaming, and saw big improvement when overclocking a 3ghz Phenom II x4 to 3.4ghz, so going to say 2.66ghz isnt enough.

Is the athlon unlocked by default for overclocking?

So I may see only 3-5 FPS difference average in games between X4 640 and Q6700?

Q6600 classic for OC ing..Overclock on custom cooling to 3.2 ghz with 660ti 2gig plus 8gig system ram on socket 775 win 7 64bit = fallout 4 1080p flawless........................................Those old core2quads still rock..............
