Hello everyone!

I have an HP Sleekbook 14 (4-1110us) running an Intel I3 - 3217U processor. I was hoping that someone could shed some light on a processor swap that I had in mind.

I am looking into swapping my I3 3217U to an I7 3667U in my laptop. My research has shown that both of these chips share the BGA1023 socket type, both are Ivy Bridge processors, and both are rated at 17w power consumption. Both are also gen 3, and both were released Q2 of 2012.

I know that the increased clock speed of the I7 could potentially cause some heat issues, but the base clock speed of the I7 is only 200mhz more than the I3. However, the I7 has the potential to run all the way up to 3.2 ghz, where as the I3 is locked in at 1.8 ghz.

If I can keep the heat under control, do you think I would have any compatibility issues doing this swap?

Thanks for your time!

So... After another bit of looking around. It appears that the BGA1023 chips are soldered to the motherboard. I guess that pretty much eliminates that idea.

Cheers everyone!
