First time building a gaming PC, can I get some thoughts on my build?

Hi guys!

I'm building a gaming PC so I can play games like The Witcher 3 and hopefully run FF15 and other new releases. I might be doing a bit of solidworks and inventor work as well but I doubt it will be anything really demanding. I'm also not planning on doing any overclocking. Budget is roughly $1200 AUD without peripherals or windows 8.1, planning on buying them separately in the future.

I might switch the R9 290 for an 280X if I could find one at Umart but they don't seem to be selling any at the moment.

The GPU you've chose is actually more expensive than a 290X. Get the R9 390. It should perform better than the 290 and even the 290X and will cost you around $40 less.
Also I won't get that PSU. Get the Cooler Master V650. It has legendary quality, is semi modular, and not at all expensive.

He is from Australia i think, Australian prices arent the same as the EUA one.
You should switch your memory RAM to 2x4 instead of 1x8, it will be faster and better
Im not entirely sure that psu can run that card, i think it can, but its better if you have a bit more watts from a realiable brand like that one has

Hi,

You don't need a after market cpu cooler for that cpu. And 600W and R 290 is bit of a dangerous combination since R9 290 ask for a 750w psu. If I was you I would go with one fo this,

GTX 980+ The same PSU
R9 390X/R9 390+ 750W psu

With those no doubt, You can play anything al least on very High. Everything else is perfectly fine. Btw try to get 2x4GB ram.

Hope this helped!
