specifications:
motherboard: 144a hp
bios: Insydeh20 F.29

Solution
Hi ganchas,
The reason the laptop is not booting up with the new memory installed is that it is not compatible. Part number KVR13S9S8/4 is Single Rank or high density which cannot communicate properly with the HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook dv6-3160sp. That system requires low density or Dual Rank 4GB memory modules. We no longer manufacture 4GB modules that are compatible with that system. You might be able to find the discontinued compatible part number KTH-X3A/4G from some online resellers like memory4less.com or memoryten.com that hold on to older memory.

Thank you for choosing Kingston as your upgrade partner,
