Okay I am installing a new mobo, video card, and psu for the first time and I am wondering if there is anything I need to do.

I already know I should touch a water faucet to discharge my static pulse and apply new thermal paste which I have already, but I need to know where to put my existing parts while I am taking out my old mobo and putting new mobo. Like where is the best place to put them ? I also read online that rubber gloves are useful also , is that true ?

If there ANY other precautions I need to take please let me know. Thank you for your time and service.

Get an ESD strap and mat, they aren't very expensive. Lay out the mat on a large surface like the kitchen table, wear the strap. The mat will give you plenty of room to lay out parts safely while installing. Be sure to connect the mat to a grounding point if it requires it, and connect the ESD strap to the mat if it has a point for it.

I would advise against rubber gloves, latex can cause issues with ESD control. Nitrile gloves are ok, and will help keep your parts smudge-free.
