I already asked this question before and as suggested I put a new heatsink but I am still getting low fps after playing for 10 minutes..if I minimize the game..and play after sometime the fps return to normal but after that again after 2 minutes fps drop down. My cpu temp is 70C-80C while gaming..and gpu temp is 60C-70C. Could it be due to my room temperature being hot..also I dont have any case fans. Could it be the cause?could it be the psu.?i bought it some months ago..plz help....
My specs
Core 2 duo e6750 2.66 ghz
4gb ddr3 RAM
Oyster 500 watt psu
Msi Gtx 750 ti 2gb gddr5

Those temps are okay. OP, is this consistently across lots of different games? After a period at high load things start going badly? Your description doesn't really fit with a CPU bottleneck. Especially the fact that things improve for a short while after you've minimised the game.

The one thing that leaps out to me about your build is that PSU. Is that really the make because I've never heard of it and a Google search comes up blank. More details on the PSU would be good? Make and model number? A bad PSU can cause all kinds of weird problems.

I was about to correct you on that, but you're right I'm wrong... nice catch. I hadn't realised the thermal limits on those older processors are so much more conservative.

OP, what's your CPU heatsync? That processor shouldn't be getting that hot with the stock cooler, let alone an aftermarket one. Something's not right. Have you overclocked? Is the heatsync or air intake on the case clogged with dust? Have you got any case fans for airflow through the case?

Having said all that, I'm still extremely nervous about your power supply and it's still worth posting more details on that.

I have intel heatsink..when i limit cpu power...min 5..max 98 then the fps increases..but not as good while i am playing games with default cpu power setting?
Could it be the psu?

I've never heard of that PSU, and it does the typical cheap PSU trick of stating "500W" when there's only 300W on the 12V rail.

What are your store preferences and I or someone else will post some suggestions. I'm guessing you're not in the US as that looks like a 220V only PSU?

It's possibly the PSU, but it's hard to know for sure without a decent one to test with. In any case though, I wouldn't run any sort of rig off that PSU. Get yourself a decent model and it'll serve you well for 5 years or more. You don't need to spend a lot of money, just get a decent model (Seasonic, XFX, Antec, most EVGA models are good too).

Yup..I am from Nepal.. I got this psu for Rs 1500 (15 $)..ur right i need to change my psu..can you sugget some good but cheap psu? Also, I am now getting good fps after I opened the side parts of my casing and a external fan..now the cpu temp never go above 69 C. Will adding case fans help to bring the temps down more?

Have you got any case fans at all? You really want at absolutely minimum one, but ideally two, one intake on the front, and an exhaust out the back. If you do have fans, check they're pointing the right way. Sometimes you can accidentally install two exhaust or two intakes that just fight with each other.

In terms of the PSU, it's going to totally depend on what's available in your area. Do you use an online retailer? Can you post a link? Google Translate might give us enough in English to find a decent model. You're completely safe with any Seasonic, XFX, or Antec, to my knowledge they have never released a 'bad' PSU line, but they might not be available or might be really expensive. There are plenty of other capable models.
If you want to check yourself you can use the PSU tier list: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
Anything tier 2 or above is ideal. Given the low power on your rig I suggest you'd be fine with a tier 3, but I'd spend a little extra on a tier 2 if that's an option. You might find that the price jump is massive, in which case you can get by with a tier 3 model just fine.
