I recently purchased an HP Pavillion 15 installed with Windows 8.1 and the startup is painfully slow. The specs are :

Microsoft Windows 8.1 64bit
Intel Corei7 5500U Processor
16 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 5500
NVIDIA 840M 4GB Dedicated Graphics

Here's a video showing the problem I made : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2cBfO-lmS0

I don't understand what the problem is and have tried many troubleshooting options none seems to work. Anyone else had the same problem and somehow fixed it?

Hi there Hisham Nazer,

The boot speed depends mostly on the HDD.
This is why, it may be a good idea to check out what is the model of the HDD as well as its RPM.
Another thing you can do is to just test it with some HDD testing tool: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

In case there is something wrong with it, you need to back up all the data stored on it.

You can check this thread out as well: http://www.eightforums.com/performance-maintenance/39119-win-8-1-slow-boot-startup.html

Pretty sure its an Nvidia issue.

Go to control panel, administrative tools, double click services to open, scroll down to Nvidia steamer service, double click to open. In the startup box drop down to disabled, click apply and ok. restart your machine, all should be ok.
