Hi community,

This is also my very first post on tom's hardware :)

Going to keep it short and put my build right here!
I also watched allot of pc build video's to prepare myself and asked some friend who build their own pc.

Case: be quiet! silent base 800 red
cpu: i5 4690k
Gpu: EVGA gtx 980 FTW ACX 2.0
HDD: Western Digital Black, 1TB
cpu cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Motherboard: MSI z97 GAMING 5
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO (250gb)
PSU: be quiet! System power 7 700W
RAM: Corsair 8gb DDR3-1866

So this will be my final build (mostly for gaming) if this build will work :),
i already got a screen, mouse etc. I'm also planning to buy the corsair k70 gaming keyboard.

Now with this all said, i'm open for tips and information about my future build, i also did allot of research of all the parts to make sure they would all fit and communicate well together.

Solution
Some good items in there, 980 GTX is a beasty card and will do you well for a serious amount of years! I personally do not believe in Water Cooling...you can achieve just as good on air to a certain point. Most CPU's run at a capable and cool temp on ait around 4.5ghz easily.

Same as SLI, the 2nd card will not run at 100% same as the 1st...its just not worth putting money into fella. (These are my personal opinions, I am not starting a WAR).

I run a 5820K on AIR with a 750D Corsair case at 35 idle and 42 load (playing 2014/15 games).

With future expansion, you could only upgrade from an i5 to an i7 perhaps, maybe add another 8GB ram, your make some slight gains here.

And then in 4-5 years time start looking at a DDR4 system.

Hi there Destim and welcome to the tom's hardware forums.

This is a decent build with a good spread of parts, if you're looking for tips for a future build perhaps you'd consider a closed loop water cooler and try out some overclocking. I suppose you are more than able to do a mild overclock on your 4690K with the 212 Evo if you'd fancy.

Thanks for the reply!

Overclocking was something i would be doing in the future, but at the moment i think i will be ok with the air cooler, like u said it can handle a little overclock if i really wanted to, if i had the choice of upgrading one of my parts would it be the cpu or cpu cooler? What would u advise?

By the way, i still have to build this pc if i wasn't clear enough :p
