Hi

First off i would state that yes the resolution might amuse some people on the forum , but hey i dont mind playing on that screen . It's 19 inch and i sit roughly 1 - 1.5 meters away from the screen so it doesnt bother me.

I plan to build a pc for 1366x768 resolution gaming . Prefer to get around 60fps on multiplayer games and above 30 at least on singleplayer.

Ill mostly play video games and do some STAAD on the system , and nothing too heavy.

The issue is most people building new rigs suggest to get i5 4690k or a gtx 970. Would'nt that be an overkill for that res?

So help me out here please . I need to play games such as arkham knight , bf4 , gta 5, fallout 4 etc.

Parts needed : motherboard , cpu , gpu , ram , psu.

I can salvage parts from my old system such as case , hdd , dvd burner etc.

Budget would be as low as possible but but a max i am willing to spend is around $400-500.

Thanks

R9 270/x seems like a perfect choice for that resolution.
Check out i3-4130 by intel or AMD FX6300.
You can find 8GB or RAM for 50-60$.
I think it should fit all nicely into your budget, you don't need expensive motherboards, under 60$ you'll manage to find some.

Things you can do:

  • Feel free to swap out the motherboard. The one here is pretty high-quality to be paired with a Pentium. Like VedranMik said, there are many motherboards around $50-$60 that will suit your needs.

Although 768p isn't a very high resolution, the games you're playing *might* be too demanding for an R7 370. I don't think they will be, though.

I color-coordinated the build to be black, blue, and white themed. Hope you like it! If you don't, feel free to change components to be cheaper but not match the theme. I will tell you now, though, that you'll only save about $20-$30 doing that.

Crucial has some slightly less expensive RAM than what I chose, but it's yellow. Yuck. I would never put that in a build unless I was sure nobody would ever see inside.

I'll be glad for any feedback on how good this build looks, thanks!

Oh, and one more thing--I hope you have a copy of Windows. You're going to need it!
