Hey there, g1abhi!

Good job with the storage upgrade plans on your new desktop! :) I have to ask you though what exactly are you planning to use your secondary storage drive for? If you are planning to have enough capacity to store big files on your PC, I guess you should consider the internal HDDs rather than the external options you've listed. External HDDs are a good backup storage solution, somewhere you can keep the data from your internal HDD and SSD. However, I wouldn't use a USB-connected drive instead of a SATA-connected one for secondary storage, because the external (USB) storage's transfer speed is much slower than the internal (SATA).
I'd also rule out the WD Purple option from your list, since the drive is specifically designed to be used as a surveillance storage solution. They are tested to be compatible in wide-range of security systems. The WD Purple can be used 24/7 always on high-definition surveillance environment, however, you will not be able to notice any of these features if you are using it as a desktop drive. The (RPM) speed and the spin-down might actually have a negative effect on your computer's performance. You can read more about the drive itself here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=9SfVXW

Let me know if you have more questions! Hope I was helpful! :)

Gaming is my primary objective for the system . And i guess I can cram a 1 game at a time along with my boot drive SSD of 120Gb. And i am picking USb 3.0 drives only for external , so Speed is 5.0Gbps Vs the sata 6.0Gbps . I will be storing game setups and movies mainly in the drive.
I even have an option of ADATA 256Gb SSD for Rs 6050 , but then i will be able to afford only a 1tb internal or external along with it. In my original post i have not included the cost involved for an SSD which would be Rs 3600 for the kingston SSD v300.
I currently have a 1Tb external hard disk and 1tb hdd in my laptop , so i not really in a need of portable drives. Just that they are in the same price so i cant decide .
P.S. I will be using the externals on a 3.0 usb port of my new motherboard asrock h91 so i guess 80MBps is the minimum i will get even on an external.

In such a case, I'd recommend you to take a look at WD Black and WD Blue as secondary storage options for your gaming PC.
The WD Black is our performance drive and it's designed to deliver smooth running of games and high-end software applications. You can check more about the drive's features and details here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=3BiPUF
The WD Blue's purpose is to be used in everyday computing, however, the biggest capacity variation of that drive is 1 TB. Yet again, a lot of gamers are satisfied with its performance in their rigs, especially the ones suited with SSDs. Here's a link to the features of the WD Blue as well: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=UMCxb7

I guess in terms of numbers the speed differences are not that noticeable, however if you run a game off of an internal SATA HDD side-by-side with an external USB HDD. The internal should deliver a much better performance. Yet again, I wouldn't consider either the WD Purple or the WD Green for gaming as internal drives. The WD Green's mostly used as a secondary massive storage drive that is rarely accessed, otherwise the spin-down function of the drive might bother you.

Hope this was useful. :)
