you cant go wrong with either of those but i think the MSI edges out the EVGA with its overcloking app and a included backplate
and even though u own a evga card right now i use MSI's afterburner utility
for my fan control and overclocking adjustments.
I hate precision X by evga.

Performance-wise, there isn't any significant difference IMO. Software wise, MSI afterburner is currently one of the top overclocking apps.

But have you considered the ports? If you're planning on having multiple fast monitors(120-144 Hz), I'd take the 3x DisplayPort of the EVGA.
Note that HDMI and DVI does not support higher than 60Hz, you need to connect your monitor via DisplayPort to play at higher refresh rate.

So I guess if you are planning on playing on 2 or 3 120+hz monitor then EVGA is your only option. MSI still has 1 displayPort so you can have max of 1 monitor running at higher than 60Hz refresh.

If overclocking is your thing and not monitors you can go for MSI.

If neither monitor or overclocking is your concern, take the one which matches the color of your motherboard (at least that's what I'd do). =p

So i dont plan on over clocking. Im still very green on that. I do have duel monitors which i use for multitasking. I recently contacted silverstone and they said the new razor case (rvz02) should would be arriving in august. So i plan using whatever gpu i have for that build. This new build will stay hooked up to to the tv.

since you dont manually Overclock get the fastest you can out of the box
the MSI gaming, the EVGA(ssc) Super, superclocked+
and the gigabyte G1 are all beasts right out of the box!
take your pick? they are all amazing 970's
if cost is a factor, the EVGA is probably the least expensive and it was one of your
choices in the title so grab a EVGA ssc just be sure to get the newer + version.
trust me it is much better than the original ssc.
