intel i7 4790k+2400mhz

hi guys
i'm taking intel i7 4970k and cosair 2400mhz ram which supports 1600mhz as you know, i have doubt that if i dont change xmp will processor consider ram to be 1600 mhz and rest of the memory will be useless until i adjust xmp.
idk about this thing so pls answer

The amount of DRAM won't change but the data rate will need to be changed to run at the full 2400, easiest is to enable XMP, though you can set up manually. Might require a slight CPU OC to run at 2400, depends on how strong your individual MC (memory controller) is
