Can you SLI 2 of the same cards but different manufacturers

I was planning on getting a second 970, and i am wondering if i can SLI a different 970 than just the Gigabyte G1 970

Your fine as long as the chips are same.. doesn't matter which name brand. so msi 970 can be sli with evga 970.

You CANNOT sli gtx 960 with 970 if that make sense.

Yeah you can, set the faster factory clocked card as master though, otherwise they'll both downclock to the slowest one. Doesn't really matter if you plan to OC of coarse.
