Left 4 Dead 2 randomly crashes to desktop.

Hello folks,

Two days ago I bought the game Left 4 Dead 2 from steam. On first run the game was running just perfectly, but on second running the game starts random crashing to desktop, without any message or error. I tried game cache verifying, lower the graphics settings, removing the gore effect, updating video driver and directx, installing the latest C++ package, but just no use.

My pc is covering the recommended system req. Windows 8.1 x86 latest updates included.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

Ah there is your issue. You do not have enough ram. Plus your gpu is slightly weak. It is recommended to have more than 4 gb or 8gb of ram for gaming on any game.

Yeah, but I ran the game pretty well on max video settings on 1680x1050, so I don't think this is my problem, maybe something with the game?

Hmm that could also be it. Ok so go to steam. Right click on the game in your library list. Next hit properties, then local files, then verify file system or verify integrity.

Alright if that doesnt work what drive are you using on your gpu currently?

Yes, i've installed them, the latest one, also tried with old one.

The recent drivers really suck and cause everything to fail. (Same thing happens to me.)

Use the 347.88 drivers. They dont have any crashes and they work much better than any of the 350 drivers. Let me know if that fixes anything. Also go to advanced set up when you run the driver and only select physx and the graphics driver. All the other stuff is useless. (Especially geforce experience) and check the clean install box

I'm currently using 337.50 drivers, the one from the graphics card manufacturer' site. I've done the exactly same thing that you have said.

Well try the one I suggested to test if that fixes anything. (I have a msi card and i use the ones off the nvidia site and not the msi site because they are never updated)

I use from the gigabyte site, because from nvidia latest are very buggy, often they stop working and recovered, thats why I use those from gigabyte.

I will try the one you've suggested.

Tried the driver 347.88 and install it like you said, only physx and check clean installation. But it hasn't change, crashing again.
