Corsair power supplies are generally garbage with the exception of some of their high-end ones. A high-quality 450 or 500 could do it with a high quality PSU, but upgrading the PSU is the safest way to go.

Yeah, I would upgrade. Most of the 80+ certified EVGA models are good. So are Seasonics. I would get a 750W EVGA of some kind, it gives you room for future upgrades and is quite reliable.

That's a fine choice too. I personally would want more wattage for future expansion. However, I used to have that exact power supply (It's in a different system in my house now) and it's a perfectly good option.

Ah this is to much of a misconception. It doesnt matter if its gold, silver or bronze. He'll still be getting 450 watts if its a good make. What the 80+ means is its efficiency in transforming the power from your wall outlet into DC power for your PC. If it has say a 72% efficiency rating all that means is that its less efficient at doing it and creates more heat than a more efficient one, but it still puts out the 450 watts.

"but it still puts out the 450 watts" your quote and yes which is enough for the entire PC with 960 inside. 960 draws 120W and the rest of the PC max another 120W so 240W in total, what is wrong with 450 W then?
