Hey guys quick question. I'm upgrading from 580 to 980. My 580 bus type was PCI-E 2.0, as my mobo only has PCI-E 2.0 slots. How much performance am I losing upgrading to a 980 that uses 3.0 on my mom 2.0 slots? Thanks!

The PCI Express 3.0 cards are backward compatible, will work fine on PCI Express 2.0/1.1 slots, with negligible performance difference. So no need to worry about that. Check this video:

As you could see the performance of GTX 980 on PCI-E 2.0 X16 slot vs PCI-E 3.0 X16 is just 2 FPS or less. Highly negligible or even non-existent!

Cheers!
